Building the Deathstar!
Monday, August 3rd, 2009On January 11th I began building the Deathstar. I am pleased to announce I finally finished. My mom is also pleased since she gets her dining room table back. Fortunately Luke Skywalker didn’t have our address allowing me time to complete it in all its destructive glory! Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment:

Help end hunger by using your brain
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
My friend showed me a website called FreeRice.com. The site offers questions in a number of subjects including: Art, Chemistry, English, Geography, Language Learning and Math. For each question you get right the site donates 10 grains of rice through the UN World Food Program. Take a few minutes to help end hunger while exercising your brain.
According to the UN more than 25,000 people die from hunger or hunger-related causes each day. While 10 grains of rice may seem like a small amount, it is important to remember that while you are playing, so are thousands of other people at the same time. It is everyone together that makes the difference. FreeRice has generated enough rice to feed millions of people since it started in October 2007.

The Opposite Day Paradox
Friday, June 13th, 2008
My friends and I like to play ‘Opposite Day’ which as wikipedia describes is:
a holiday which is celebrated by many schoolchildren, though often in an irregular fashion and not on any pre-determined day of the year. Typically, when Opposite Day is declared, statements always mean the opposite of what they say. In the sense that it would “excuse” untrue statements, it is related to the notion that crossed fingers automatically nullify promises.
Of course as I explained to my dad, if you say ‘it’s opposite day’ you are making a false statement and if you say ‘it isn’t Opposite Day’ you are always making a true statement. My dad explained this is known as the ‘liar paradox‘. After explaining what paradox meant, I suggested we call it the Opposite Day Paradox instead. Dad agreed. Dad then went on talk about time travel and the associated paradoxes it would create, but I told him that time travel was impossible and we started tickling each other.
