Zohan: a movie I want to see but can’t!

Friday, May 16th, 2008

As I sat watching the previews prior to seeing Iron Man and Speed Racer I couldn’t help but laugh out loud as I watched Adam Sandler play Zohan. The movie, coming out on June 6th, is rated PG-13. Check out the trailer:

So I need your help. Leave a few comments for my dad explaining why I should be able to see this movie (with his ‘guidance’ of course since I am under 13). Thanks!

Going to see Narnia?

Friday, May 16th, 2008

My dad has been asking me for a few weeks whether or not I want to see the latest installment of The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian. I am leaning toward no. I have emphatically told him I wasn’t interested, but for some reason he wants me to check it out. So for now, the answer is no. Check out the trailer:

The guys at The Movie Blog predict a B grade for the movie.

Speed Racer Review

Friday, May 16th, 2008

6-9 year old rating: B+
Dad rating: D+

My dad wrote about Speed Racer on his blog last week. Turns out he hated the movie. For me? I loved it. The best parts? Spritle and Chim-Chim! Spritle is Speed Racer’s younger brother, who, along with his pet chimpanzee, who responded to the name of Chim-Chim constantly got into mischief by hiding in the trunks of cars. Spritle and Chim-Chim dress in identical jumpsuits and striped hats and often perform identical physical actions. Lots of fun!!! Dad thought the movie was too long and I won’t disagree, but while he was dozing off I was enjoying the show. Check out a full review of the movie over on The Movie Review Blog.

Iron Man Review

Friday, May 16th, 2008

6-9 year old rating: B-
Dad rating: A-

To be honest, I had never heard of Iron Man before I saw the product placement and advertisements on Cartoon Network. My dad seemed excited about the movie and of course I agreed to join him. Evidently Iron Man is based on a comic book character of the same name. Turns out Iron Man follows Batman’s model, i.e. ’superhero with no actual powers who is a multi-billionaire who uses his money to buy gadgets that he uses to fight crime.’ Lovely.

Well, my dad loved it. He couldn’t get over Jon Favreau’s decision to cast Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark (aka Iron Man). Don’t get me wrong, the iron suit was cool, but for some reason the show didn’t connect with me as it did with my dad. So if you want to hang out with your dad this might be a good movie to see. If your dad has already seen it, I would recommend Speed Racer! Check out a full review of Iron Man on The Movie Blog or check out his three minute review below:

Lego Indiana Jones Game

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

My newest favorite online game is Lego’s Indian Jones Adventures. I have progressed to level three after spending a few days stuck on level one. I was getting discouraged getting crushed by the boulder every ten minutes or so. Yesterday I finally figured out how to beat the boulder and moved on to the next two levels. I recommend checking out the game before the movie comes out! 6-9 year old rating: A
